Greetings!

The SRBLSA Law Journal strives to be a representative voice on legal issues facing southern blacks. This year’s theme is “Southern Discomfort: A Critical Analysis of the Southern Black Community's Legal Strides and Struggles in the 21st Century”.

For the fifth year anniversary of this journal, we felt it befitting to focus on legal issues that have plagued and spurred growth in the south. The articles published in this volume address many issues that currently exist in the southern United States and how those issues have affected Southern African American communities. The south has long been viewed as a hotbed of racial tension; however, through struggle enormous strides have been made. By shedding light and encouraging legal discourse, Volume V seeks to join the strides and efforts that have continually changed the racial dynamic of the south.

This volume is dedicated to the victims of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake.

Sincerely,
Haniyah J. Miller
